This webinar will take an in depth look at the losses these children experience. We will explore the various ways grief is experienced and how children are affected. We will also look at what to do with children and families when children get stuck in various stages of grief.
Kendra Alley, LPC, is a Family Counselor for Alabama Pre/Post Adoption Connections at Children’s Aid Society in the Huntsville office. Kendra has lived in Madison, Alabama, her entire life. Kendra received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and received a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Alabama A&M University. She is licensed through the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling. Kendra has worked with children and families in a therapeutic capacity for over 10 years. Before joining APAC in 2015, she worked as a foster care counselor and placement specialist, finding loving homes for foster children throughout the state of Alabama. She has also provided intensive therapy for seriously emotionally disturbed children, preventing out-of-home placements. Kendra is also trained in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Robbie Shockey MS is the Family Support Worker III for Alabama Pre/Post Adoption Connections based in the Huntsville office. She also works part-time as a Psychiatric Screener for Huntsville Hospital. She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology at UAB and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of South Alabama. Prior to working at APAC, Robbie has worked in various capacities helping families including substance abuse as well as providing clinical intervention for children at risk. Robbie and her husband have been married for 27 years. They live in Madison and have three teenage children. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
