This webinar will address the factors in maintaining stability in the adoptive family. The scope includes issues specific to the child’s perspective and the parent perspective. The factors that contribute to family disequilibrium will also considered as well as the strategies that parents and professionals might consider in the effort to maintain balance.
Kathy I. Hummel, is an LCSW, PIP and a certified sex therapist ( AASECT), with over 35 years of clinical and administrative experience in the field of social work. She is currently employed by Children’s Aid Society as a Regional Coordinator for APAC (Alabama Pre/Post Adoption Connections) and Clinical Coordinator of APAC’s statewide adoptive family counseling services. Ms. Hummel’s areas of concentration are attachment, sexual abuse and perpetration, sex addiction, adolescence and child development. Ms. Hummel has presented trainings nationally and has co-written a book on infant attachment.
Brock Sellers, LCSW, PIP is an Alabama native with strong roots in the social work field. He obtained both his BSW and MSW from the University of Alabama and has been working in the field for about 13 years. His experience includes working with DHR in most all of the child welfare services. In July 2010, Brock joined up with Children’s Aid Society as a Family Support Worker APAC ( Alabama Pre/Post Adoption Connections) where he now supports and educates foster and adoptive families and the professionals who serve them. Brock serves as APAC’s Training Coordinator where he organizes webinars and statewide trainings with leading experts in the field of foster care and adoption for the benefit of Alabama’s clinical professionals. Brock is also the co-founder of Innate Health Solutions, where he works in the private sector as an consultant and trainer, working with individuals, families, and various service agencies to achieve overall healthier functioning.
