Description
Sonia Martin, an experienced therapist and foster & adoptive parent, will bridge the gap from science to practicality for helping children with their regulatory systems. Taking its cue from the Polyvagal Theory, this webinar will demonstrate hands on sensory and compression components to help biologically mitigate negative behaviors in children who have experienced trauma. The polyvagal theory has many implications for the study of stress, emotion, and social behavior.
Participants will learn and understand the underlying functions of the brain, how the chronic presence of cortisol and adrenaline mitigate typical development in children and how to set their environment up for success. Various sensory and compression-specific items will be demonstrated and will be on display to assist in both the home and school environment to teach participants how to “Fill the Bucket” of their child’s sensory and regulatory systems.
