Description

This presentation will take a look at the field of Applied Behavior Analysis and how Behavior Analysts understand and approach behavior. Behavior Analysts conduct many assessments and rely on data to guide their interventions. This is very helpful for children with extreme behavioral challenges and/or children who primarily communicate through behavior. The audience will learn how to identify the functions of behavior as the first step to changing behavior. The presentation will end by reviewing strategies and interventions for changing behavior based on the results of the assessments conducting.

Sabrina Franks, M.S., BCBA

Sabrina is a Program Specialist with the State of Alabama Department of Human Resources (DHR) in the Office of Quality Child Welfare Practice. She is a graduate of Auburn University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. She has been a Board Certified Behavior Analyst since 2006. After working for Auburn University Master’s Program for Applied Behavior Analysis and Developmental Disabilities, she joined Alabama DHR in 2007. Sabrina has been teaching the Tools of Choice curriculum as well as working directly with families, children, and providers across the state. She and several others are dedicated to demonstrating the effectiveness of the Tools of Choice program on Alabama’s families and she had the outcomes published in the Research on Social Work Practice in 2013. She has served several terms on the Executive Board of the Alabama Association for Behavior Analysis and now will be serving her second term as President in 2018.
