Description
Learn how to save a life with QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer), a practical and evidence-based suicide prevention method. In this interactive training, participants will gain the skills to recognize warning signs of suicide, confidently engage in compassionate conversations, and connect individuals in crisis with professional help.
QPR empowers everyday people to act as Gatekeepers, breaking the stigma around mental health and fostering a culture of support and awareness. Whether you're a friend, family member, teacher, or coworker, this training equips you with the tools needed to intervene effectively and make a real difference in someone’s life. Together, we can prevent suicide and promote mental wellness in our communities.
Training Objectives:
- Identify verbal, behavioral, and situational clues that may indicate someone is at risk for suicide.
- Develop the skills to confidently approach and engage with someone who may be in crisis.
- Master the three steps of QPR:
- Question: How to ask someone directly and compassionately about suicidal thoughts.
- Persuade: How to encourage someone to seek help and accept support.
- Refer: How to connect the individual with appropriate professional resources.
Effective Communication Skills
- Gain knowledge of local, national, and online resources for suicide prevention, including crisis hotlines, counseling services, and community support and address High-Risk Situations.
- Learn strategies for creating a culture of support and openness in schools, workplaces, and communities.
- Reflect on how participants can apply QPR in their daily lives to make a difference.
- Leave participants with the tools, confidence, and motivation to act as "Gatekeepers" in their communities, helping to save lives.
