Training Objectives
To equip law enforcement, fire/EMS first responders, court-related personnel, child-serving professionals with effective uniform protocols to recognize, rethink, and respond to child trafficking.
6.5 APOST, Social Work, General Credit Hours Available.
Materials to be covered include:
--The crime of child trafficking, including online, sex, and labor trafficking, indicators, and risk factors
--Inter-agency partners who can assist in responding to victims and the prosecution of perpetrators
--Best practices in recognizing, rethinking, and responding in common encounter scenarios
--Trauma- informed, victim-centered response, including those who are culturally diverse.

Itinerary
Training Content
Material is presented in multi-faceted format by a multi-agency training team. Topics covered include defining human and child trafficking including sex and labor trafficking definitions, federal and state laws including elements for prosecution, considerations for evidence collection, best practices for interviewing and screening children, documentation.
Collaborations between law enforcement, first responders, juvenile justice, child protective services, school systems, and health care systems across jurisdictions, who to call for what and when. Appropriate response protocols and importance of a MDT approach are covered.
